Kudos to Writer and Director David Gaddies for collaborating with Co-Writer Steven Kelleher to produce the powerful, provocative and evocative film adaptation of Ken Liu’s short (but sweet) story,”Memories of My Mother”. In just under 30 minutes, the film Beautiful Dreamer captures the deepest desire of every mother who loves their children– for their children to be happy.  Facing a terminal disease, a mother uses space travel and relativity to stretch her last two years over the lifetime of her baby daughter, visiting for only one night every seven years. Mother and daughter must negotiate to build a relationship despite the longing and estrangement that mark the moments they are able to share. Moreover, it resonates deeply with the wish of every child who has buried the physical remains of a beloved parent– to have the deceased parent present “in the flesh” for major milestones at every stage of the surviving child’s life.

An impeccable ensemble cast , led by actors Jo Armeniox (Mom), Theis Weckesser (Dad), and Lynn Cohen (Amy as elder) render pitch perfect performances.Meshing seamlessly with the screenplay, the actors take the audience on a rollercoaster ride through   the joy and grief of multiple births and deaths, loves and hates, and ultimately a return to love for eternity. This was another great film which premiered at the 2016 Dances With Films Festival.
