FRANK MISCIONE: Opening Reception:

The Art Parlor is pleased to present the first West Coast solo exhibition of California

native artist, Frank Miscione. Frank’s art at once strikes the viewer as a painted metaphor

of contemporary art.  It is both an Odyssey, and a performance piece on stage, an

installation’s history, filmed in pigment in the artists own hand.  In Frank’s art his real

experiences render images that are apprehended in one’s own memory.  Depending on

one’s own experience, they evoke a response extending from shock and horror of past

experiences to refreshed perception of what is real beneath the empirical mask.

Using the figure and human expressions as his primary subject matter, Frank’s

destruction of the facade allows us to see how a child or innocent might see that,

 “This is not what I thought I saw” just as the gentle and enticing being before them become transformed into a predatory monster.
